The Theory of Piezoelectric Shells and Plates
CRC | March 28, 1994 | ISBN-10: 084934459X | 272 pages | PDF | 14.7 mb

This is the first book devoted to a systematic description of the linear theory of piezoelectric shells and plates theory. The book contains two parts. In the first part, the theories for electroelastic thin-walled elements of arbitrary form with different directions of preliminary polarization are presented in an easy form for practical use. The approximate methods for integrating the equations of piezoelectric shells and plates are developed and applied for solving some engineering problems. In the second part, the theory of piezoelectric shells and plates is substantiated by the asymptotic method. The area of applicability for different kinds of electroelastic shell theories is studied. A new problem concerning the electroelastic phenomena at the edge of a thin-walled element is raised and solved. The Theory of Piezoelectric Shells and Plates will be valuable to researchers working in the field of electroelasticity as well as to electrical and electronic engineers who use thin-walled piezoelements. It is also be helpful for students and post-graduates specializing in mechanics and for scientists concerning asymptotic methods.

A Game Theory Analysis of Options: Contributions to the Theory of Financial Intermediation in Continuous Time by Alexandre Ziegler
English | July 15, 1999 | ISBN: 3540656286 | 154 Pages | PDF | 5 MB

This book presents a method that combines game theory and option pricing in order to analyze dynamic multiperson decision problems in continuous time and under uncertainty. The basic intuition of the method is to separate the problem of the valuation of payoffs from the analysis of strategic interactions.

This volume is the final result of the research project ''Micro growth model", that was sponsored by the Central Research Pool of Tilburg University, the Netherlands. Apart from the University Council for this important financial support, I owe Prof. Dr. Fiet Verheyen very much for the way in which he introduced me into scientific circles and for the way in which he supervised and stimulated my work. Dr. Jan de Jong and Peter Janssen C. E. , Technical University of Eindhoven, piloted me safely through the mathe matics of optimal control theory and removed some technical barriers.

Relativism and Human Rights: A Theory of Pluralistic Universalism
Publisher: Springer | ISBN: 1402099851 | edition 2009 | PDF | pages 172 | 0,85 mb

This book advances a post-metaphysical model for testing the validity of human rights principles. It takes into account some of the most recent researches in the field of cognitive linguistics and ethics in order to ground a deliberative model based upon the Kantian reflective judgment. Even if specifically suited for academics and research scholars, it can profitably be adopted as a supplementary textbook in masters and doctoral programmes. As a unique contemporary contribution to the understanding of the conceptual status of human rights principles, this work represents an invaluable instrument also for the activities conducted at research centres and think-tanks. Indeed the abstract premises of the book are oriented to a more and more concrete underpinning of the contemporary human rights challenges as those faced by public officials involved in human rights project cooperation.
