These flash cards are an excellent educational tool that will help students at all levels. I would recommend them to my anatomy students. They are comparable to Anatomy Flash Cards: Anatomy on the Go, Gilroy (Thieme, 2008)) in content, but the latter has a better online resource that allows students to study each illustration with or without labels, along with a self-testing feature. Nevertheless, this second edition of the Gray's flash cards is a very worthwhile update of a valuable student resource.

"Richard Gray's real achievement is somehow to have compressed more than 400 years of thrillingly rich literary history between two covers." Literary Review "Highly readable, jargon-free, and engaging." American Literary Scholarship "This book is the first comprehensive, single volume history of American literature since The Columbia Literary History of the United States edited by Elliott Emory and published sixteen years ago. It is a puzzle, given the extraordinary interest in American literature at home and abroad, that so few full histories of American literature have been published. Consider the fact that the Columbia history arrived nearly four decades after R. E. Spiller's Literary History of the United States. What makes Gray's book so extraordinary is that it supercedes the Spiller and Emory texts in nearly every respect, and even challenges the supremacy of the titanic (this pun is intentional), multi-volume, still-evolving Cambridge History of American Literature. How Gray managed to so captivatingly capture the depth and breadth of so complex a literature in under a thousand pages is worth considering. [...] Richard Gray possesses the most balanced scholarship of the entire range of American literature I ever read. [...] This is the first history of American literature fully worthy of the multi-dimensionality of its subject." Norman Weinstein, Boise State University --This text refers to the Paperback edition.

This new title in the Modern Masters series is dedicated to the distinguished American architect, and includes an introductory essay by Kenneth Frampton, one of the most prestigious names in the field of architecture history. This complete monograph presents 89 of Meier's buildings, documenting the principal stages of Meier's career in chronological order, from his early private homes and residential buildings - such as the two large complexes of Twin Parks, Bronx, New York, and the Bronx Development Center - to recent major projects in the United States and in several European countries, including Italy. Among the well-known works in this volume are the Getty Center in Los Angeles, the Barcelona Museum of Contemporary Art, and the church of Dives in Misericordia, Rome. In the early 1970s, Meier was one of the "New York Five," an informal group of East Coast architects who shared a preference for new and original contributions to the modern tradition and shaped an alternative to the "gray" architecture that dominated highrise East Coast buildings at the time.

When troubled or depressed, women "go down into their wells, and men retreat into their caves," the author claims in this abridged version of his best-selling book. Gray uses such examples to demonstrate the common conflicts between men and women. Topics include communication differences; emotional needs and the different ways of expressing these needs; and forming and maintaining relationships. This adaptation, read competently by Gray, succinctly summarizes the text.

powerful and prophetic challenge to globalization from a former partisan of the New Right. Hailed by Kirkus Reviews as both "a convincing analysis of an international economy" and a "powerful challenge to economic orthodoxy," False Dawn shows that the attempt to impose the Anglo-American-style free market on the world will create a disaster, possibly on the scale of Soviet communism. Even America, the supposed flagship of the new civilization, risks moral and social disintegration as it loses ground to other cultures that have never forgotten that the market works best when it is embedded in society. John Gray, well known in the 1980s as an important conservative political thinker, whose writings were relied upon by Margaret Thatcher and the New Right in Britain, has concluded that the conservative agenda is no longer viable. In his examination of the ripple effects of the economic turmoil in Russia and Asia on our collective future, Gray provides one of the most passionate polemics against the utopia of the free market since Carlyle and Marx.
