English | 1983 | ISBN: 1461597838 | 336 Pages | PDF | 15 MB

The study of animal behaviour, particularly from evolutionary and ecological viewpoints, has been one of the major growing points in biology over the last 10 to 15 years. The degree of quantitative rigour in theoretical, observational and experimental approaches to behaviour has increased dramatically.

Insect Sounds and Communication: Physiology, Behaviour, Ecology, and Evolution

Insect Sounds and Communication: Physiology, Behaviour, Ecology, and Evolution (Contemporary Topics in Entomology) by Sakis Drosopoulos
English | Nov 2, 2005 | ISBN: 0849320607 | 552 Pages | PDF | 20 MB

While we may have always assumed that insects employ auditory communication, our understanding of it has been impeded by various technical challenges. In comparison to the study of an insect's visual and olfactory expression, research in the area of acoustic communication has lagged behind. Filling this void, Insect Sounds and Communication is the first multi-author volume to present a comprehensive portrait on this elusive subject. The text includes 32 chapters written by top experts from all corners of the globe.

Humans live in large and extensive societies and spend much of their time interacting socially. Likewise, most other animals also interact socially. Social behaviour is of constant fascination to biologists and psychologists of many disciplines, from behavioural ecology to comparative biology and sociobiology.

The Living Elephants: Evolutionary Ecology, Behaviour, and Conservation by R. Sukumar
English | 496 pages | 2003 | ISBN: 0195107780 | PDF | 6,8 MB

The Living Elephants is the authoritative resource for information on both Asian and African elephants. From the ancient origins of the proboscideans to the present-day crisis of the living elephants, this volume synthesizes the behavior, ecology and conservation of elephants, while covering also the history of human interactions with elephants, all within the theoretical framework of evolutionary biology.

"The Living Elephants: Evolutionary Ecology, Behaviour, and Conservation" by R. Sukumar
496 pages | English | 2003 | ISBN: 0195107780 | PDF | 5,5 MB

The Living Elephants is the authoritative resource for information on both Asian and African elephants. From the ancient origins of the proboscideans to the present-day crisis of the living elephants, this volume synthesizes the behavior, ecology and conservation of elephants, while covering also the history of human interactions with elephants, all within the theoretical framework of evolutionary biology. The book begins with a survey of the 60-million year evolutionary history of the proboscideans emphasizing the role of climate and vegetation change in giving rise to a bewildering array of species, but also discussing the possible role of humans in the late Pleistocene extinction of mastodonts and mammoths.

The Ecology of Stray Dogs: A Study of Free-Ranging Urban Animals
Publisher: Purdue University Press | ISBN: 1557532451 | 2002 | PDF | 116 pages | 9,89 mb

This study of dog ecology (and behaviour) and of human ecology (and behaviour) discusses the facets of the phenomenon of the urban free-roaming dog. It provides information for students who wish to embark on studies of wild canines. This book was first published in 1973. It is rather brief, but very informative. I can't believe a more recent study has not been undertaken. I think one should be. I would like alot more detail about the lives these poor dogs lead. I read every book associated with Alan Beck, Arnold Arluke, Clinton Sanders, Lockwood, Ascione, and Arkow. The work they do about animals and people is so important! Seek out these authors for more about animals and people.
